Privacy Policy

1. Overview

DevJSON is a browser extension for formatting, converting, and AI-analyzing JSON. This policy explains what data the extension accesses and how it is handled.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

DevJSON does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:

• Browsing history or page content
• Personally identifiable information (name, email, IP address)
• JSON or file content you process with the extension
• Analytics, telemetry, or crash reports
• API keys beyond local storage on your own device

3. Local Storage (API Keys)

If you choose to use the AI features, you may optionally save an API key for one or more of the supported providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Mistral AI). These keys are:

• Stored exclusively in chrome.storage.local — a sandboxed storage area on your local device
• Never transmitted to any DevJSON server (we have no server)
• Never shared with third parties beyond the AI provider you select
• Accessible only by the DevJSON extension itself — no other extension or website can read them
• Removable at any time using the "Remove" button in the AI tab, or by uninstalling the extension

4. Third-Party AI Providers

When you run an AI action, your JSON content and prompt are sent directly from your browser to the AI provider you selected. DevJSON does not proxy, log, or intercept these requests.

We recommend reviewing each provider's privacy policy before using their AI features, particularly regarding how they handle API inputs.

5. Page Access

The extension requests <all_urls> host permission solely to power the "From Page" feature, which extracts JSON from the currently active tab when you explicitly click the button. The extension does not read, monitor, or log page content automatically or in the background.

6. File Uploads

Files you upload in the Converter tab are read locally in your browser using the FileReader API. Their contents are never uploaded to any server and are discarded when you close the extension popup.

7. Children's Privacy

DevJSON is a developer tool not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from minors.

8. Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the new version will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
